Our Structured Sauna & Ice Plunge Starts Sunday

Good afternoon to all those interested in

  • health
  • resiliency
  • mental clarity
  • improved metabolic function

I just read through a literature review on the physiological responses to immersion into cold water. Although it appears to be consensus that cold immersion is show to help with circulation, other reported benefits may be more correlational than cause and effect. For instance, claims that cold immersion can help with stress management be be due to the fact that people who practice cold immersion on a regular basis may also meditate regularly. However, I still think there’s value all the systemic benefits that arise due to improved circulation. And, that we simply learn some thing by forcing ourselves to do hard challenges.

There’s no one magic pill that drastically improves health, but rather it’s a web of simple tasks, and focused and attention to and action towards a wholistic approach to health and fitness. Strength training being just one major component of a total health plan, that may include meditation, yoga and / or sauna & ice therapy.

A few studies give some scientific insight on the health benefits of ice bathing and exposure to cold air. These studies suggest that regular cold exposure can be effective in treatment of chronic autoimmune inflammation [5], reduce hypercholesterolemia by brown adipose tissue activation [6] and have a positive effect on stress regulation.

Meet us after or join us right after my class Sunday at old glory gym (9-10:30), at my buddy’s garage 10 mins down the road at one Loudoun, we will do sauna and ice plunge mixed with a few more exercises.

This sauna and ice plunge practice is a scientific and methodical approach to GOOD stress. It’s hormone manipulation, metabolic activation, and mental fortitude.

While the sauna and ice plunge is still somewhat unique in the wellness space, even more different is the element of community. In all other recovery facilities, they treat it like a spa. Where are you? Enter the sauna alone, and the cryo- or ice chamber alone. That’s very difficult and often times the consistency needed to build real chemical change isn’t achieved.

What we do is create a team, supportive atmosphere, where everyone feels capable, strong, and most of all that they can keep coming back and continue to build on the positive benefits of these good stressors
